BASH: The early noob-isodes

The year is 2006. George W. Bush is in the White House. The U.S. is at war on two fronts. Shakira and Justin Timberlake are popular singing sensations. Bob Barker announces his retirement (he’s still alive?) and a young Canadian starts a CoD2-oriented webcast for his clan-mates the Devil-Dogz.

Yes, BASH had humble roots.

To show you those roots, I’ve decided that in celebration (condemnation?) of the soon-to-be-arriving Modern Warfare 3, I will re-publish the very original BASH webcasts.

Warning: Casts may cause internal bleeding

These original webcasts were bad. Not that they got much better…but these were bad. I call them the noobisodes for a reason.

DD’s

The intent of the casts, as I mentioned, were to provide some entertainment for the band of brothers and sisters that made up my clan back then…the New Jersey-based CoD2 Devil-Dogz, led by the clan-leader General “Russ” Sherman.

Yes Virginia, FPS-players actually formed serious clans back then — and the DD’s were one of the best. You can still see their site here if you are interested in joining: The Devil-Dogz.

The Devil-Dogz specialized in CoD2 back then and from what I can see, still do.

Is there a point to these casts?

Um, no. Unlike the casts post Ep 13′ish, the early casts were simply to entertain my clan-mates and only much later did they become something a bit more as we reached out into the community for content and interviews.

The early casts were simply me trying to fill half-an-hour of dead air.

Except for the first ep, most casts contain a brief intro to the whacky characters in the show followed by a boring monologue that we used to use to try and bring some of the noobish clan guys up to speed.

After the cast was months underway, I put together a blog site, http://cod2bash.blogspot.com/  to house stuff I couldn’t shoe-horn into the cast. Following that, came a free forum…much, much later on came our very own internet domain, cast download site, forum, my singing career…etc.

Of course, this would all end in tears years later with BASH 123…but that’s another story.

So, if you are at all interested, or have a serious case of masochism, here you go:

BASH 1

BASH 3

BASH 5

BASH 9

BASH 10

Sad…but there they are, warts and all. I’ll hopefully put up some of the better casts soon.
