A new, community inspired, online clan-wars site started up today for Battlefield Play For Free. The Battlefield Play For Free League, as it’s called, is an endeavor by the stalwart European Battlefield group, Old Guys Gaming Community (www.oldguys.eu). This site will will allow teams, clans or even just a few guys who want to get a bit more serious about their gaming to organize matches and challenge other like minded gamers.
Here’s a video trailer for the league:
Good to see that Battlefield Play For Free is still making headlines from time to time and generating fan interest. I haven’t played BP4F since the first week of its release. I just couldn’t get interested in playing a poorer looking, clumsier and significantly less technologically sophisticated version of BFBC2, which I already had. As well, there was a dearth of maps and many, including myself, quickly went elsewhere.
But as I’ve been chanting for years, it’s not about the graphics…its about the gameplay. And if you are a Battlefield gamer and you want to play your fave game on the computer equivalent of a toaster oven, then this is the game for you — and now, the league for you.
Hopefully, fan-generated support like BP4F will put some heat back into this P4F game.
The official post from http://www.p4fleague.com goes something like this:
The first Battlefield Play4Free League is a fact!
The past months we worked in secrecy to launch a fully working League website dedicated to Battlefield Play4Free. Communities, clans and groups from all over the world can compete on ranked ladders, find friendly matches or play in tournaments.
Every aspect of the website is dedicated to Battlefield Play4Free, the forums, ladders, everything! If you’re looking for a short-notice scrim, or like to plan a scrim weeks in advance, you can plan the scrim whenever you wish. The following features can be used to arrange scrims:
Short notice:
- Chatbox
- Warlight (your clan shows a green light next to the name, indicating you are available)
- Put an open-challenge in the system
Planning a bit ahead:
- Challenge options
- Forums
Currently, we have not planned a new tournament, but who knows
Sounds great! When can we start playing?
Sign up at www.p4fleague.com, and form a team. It is important that all your players sign up on the website. On the current ladders, there is a minimum team-size of 6. Be sure to take a look at the FAQ.
If you’re looking for a team/clan can also register yourself as a Free Agent, and get recruited by the teams!Who’s running the website?
The website is created and owned by OG Gaming, however we strive to recruit our league admins from the Battlefield Play4Free community. We’ve built it, but we need you to run it!
I don’t see a ladder /tournament which I like / for my continent.
You can suggest a new ladder or tournament on our Forums.
Based on the amount of ‘/signs’, we will act and create the new ladder/tournament.
Thanks Beaknuke for the heads up on this.

It’s great to see the Old Guys’ efforts being mentioned here. They’re truly a great bunch of guys and gals who are always looking to help their fellow gamers.
Cheers Jock, will be in touch mate
