Normally, I have to pay people to pat me on the back (thanks Svetlana, that massage was awesome!), but today that all changed. DICE’s community manager, Zh1nt0 made a surprise visit over to the BASH Boards and he gave us a nice little pre-Christmas present:
Members of the FPS community were honored by being mentioned in the credits to the Back to Karkand DLC for DICE’s outstanding shooter BF3.
This is a truly humbling moment. Though I don’t feel I should be singled out here for personal recognition, I know many of the folks in our community at BASHandSlash.com who have greatly contributed to Battlefield 3, by either their support or enthusiasm for the game. So, for those BASHandSlashers who have latched on to the Battlefield franchise, I would like to thank DICE for the kudos.
I remember like it was yesterday when this community first contacted DICE and Battlefield’s developers. It was back in November, 2009 when we spoke to Gordon Van Dyke, then at DICE. It had only been a few weeks since BASH 123 and this community needed some stroking…and ya, it felt good. The BF devs gave us hope that PC gaming still mattered.
Fast forward to 2011 and BASH 179. DICE’s Figge gave us an exclusive hint at what BF3′s first DLC would be all about. If you missed it, here was the interview:
There were many more community folks mentioned in the Back to Karkand credits. Among them, Scott Dupler at Planet Battlefield and our friend, Jim “Rudedog” from fpsadmin.com.
Congrats to Jim and the BASHandSlash.com community!

This is a great honour, we thank DICE and I have also met some fantastic people especially Christina Coffin, Johan Andersson, Barrie Tingle, Daniel Matros and especially Tim Kjell who have all given their time to the public players and being accessible to questions that they can or cannot answer.
Good work
That’s excellent. Dice and especially Zh1nt0, are class acts all the way. Which is why, as a PC gamer, I continue to buy every game and every expansion they come out with. Gotta support the ones who actually still respect our hobby.
Totally agree. Zh1nt0 is #1 in my books. Hopefully, DICE will see how great this guy is and give him more responsibility in the future. He also needs a raise.
