Originally due for a simultaneous release with the rest of 2009’s Call of Duty onslaught, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will now officially be late to the party.

On November 10th 2009, the latest batch of Call of Duty releases will arrive on each of the leading formats. Nintendo’s Wii will receive its’ first Call of Duty release with the Modern Warfare subtitle, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, alongside the Nintendo DS’s exclusive Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Mobilised. Of course, November 10th also marks the release of one of the most anticipated games of the year, Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, however, will now arrive a fortnight later, on November 24th 2009.

No official reason has yet been given for the delay, though Electronic Theatre would suggest that perhaps manufacturing constraints are to blame. Though many may expect the delay to be a measure to counteract piracy issues, as was seen with THQ’s Red Faction: Guerrilla Red Faction: Guerrilla and each of Capcom’s 2009 big three, two weeks surely won’t dull any underhanded intentions, and with worldwide release dates drawing ever closer publishers are under increased pressure to ship sufficient quantities of their titles to meet demand in a timely manner, and as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is likely to perform better at retail on consoles than PC, it’s not surprising Activision-Blizzard has chosen to delay Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PC rather than any other format. Electronic Theatre will keep you updated with all the latest from Activision-Blizzard and the Call of Duty franchise.

This is totally unconfirmed and a visit to Electronic Theatre lends no credence to it. I never did like lavender!

i guarantee you this is a rumor started by someone within the company, whether is be from IW or Activion (probably Activision) as a marketing ploy.

They will denounce this rumor with a well thought out statement while also announcing other news, it will probably be something they have been working on for the pc version. Its all a marketing ploy from i can see.

create a rumor, and deny that rumor with some other substance.

or acknowledge the rumor with some very good reasons, like changes for the pc version or some additions.

It will only benefit them if they did this. publicity/sponsors, you name it, it will all benefit Activisions financial strategy.

Im still going to wait for response from activision or IW.

"who shall remain nameless" doesnt sound to convincing just yet

But if its true, i better be expecting some improvements over the consoles.

Im sick of aging consoles holding back the pc, when a decent rig for $600 can push double the performance of a 360

I dont understand why they think the money is only in consoles where as my graphic card is worth more than an xbox 360 itself lets hope we get a response from someone at IW soon.

Still waiting on a reply from Activision. They where trying to track down the Activision head of Call of Duty to get an official response to the delay rumors.

They did not know anything about it, or so they said, while they try and craft a public statement........

Still just a rumor, but my but tells me something is up.

If this is true its the biggest slap in the face to the PC community they could have handed us.

Personally pisses me off since i had holidays booked off that week to and now have to try and jig those...
